Bipolar disorder and its causes and various symptoms

Bipolar disorder is one of the mental diseases and its causes is unknown but there are certain factors which causes this disease are biological differences and genetics. It is also known as manic depression. It includes extremely elevated mood swings. Person suffering from this disease faces trouble in coping up with their day to day life activities, it becomes hard to go to work and engage in any social activities. 

Sometimes people go through depression due to pressure and hectic life schedule which is common, but when the depression starts lasting for long it can turn into mania or hypomania. When one is depressed they feel sad, don't have interests in anything, become hopeless but when a person is having hypomania or mania, they become unusually irritable, sometimes they feel they are fully energetic and sometime they feel very low. If it is not controlled at the initial stage it might get worse and causes sleeping problem, lose of interests in various activities, incapable in thinking and taking judgments.

It is not a rare brain disease, it can happen to anyone but the average age when the symptoms of bipolar disorder can be seen is 25years. Generally depression last for two weeks, and some people might experience mood swings multiple times in a year and some may experience it rarely. Symptoms

Bipolar disorder symptoms can cause difficulties and distress in life due to unpredictable changes in behavior. There are several and related types of bipolar disorder and they are-

1-Bipolar disorder

It is characterized by the occurrence of at least one manic or it can be followed by hypomanic or major depression. This can happen to both men and women and can equally affect both of them. Sometimes it may also trigger psychosis.

2-Bipolar disorder

This type of bipolar disorder can be mainly found in women. People suffering with this disorder cannot have maniac episode but they can experience hypomanic episode which might last for four days. They also face major depression which last for mostly two weeks.

3‐Cyclothymic disorder

 This disorder is less severe than bipolar disorder 1 and bipolar disorder 2. People suffering from cyclothymic disorder experience only hypomania and depression episodes. People have stable moods only for one or months, other times they suffer from depressive symptoms and hypomania symptoms.

 4-Other Types

 Regular consumption of drugs or alcohol may cause another disorder related to bipolar disorder. Like people may have strokes sometimes, they can also suffer from sclerosis and Cushing’s disease.

 Symptoms in children and teens

 It is quite difficult to diagnose the symptoms of bipolar disorder in teens and children's.Children don't show what they are feeling it becomes difficult for them to explain what mental problems they are going through. The symptoms of bipolar disorder are not the same in children as they are with adults. Therefore, 10 standards set by the doctor to recognize bipolar disorder doesn't help in identifying the problem with the children.
