A Very Topical Gift Considering The Event Is A Christening!

Christening is a very important event in the life of a child or its parents. This is the reason that the gifts given to the child on this event should be topical and symbolic. It is better to stay away from materialistic items and give gifts that add meaning to the upbringing of the child.

A popular and very symbolic gift is either a single or pair of angels. These are often gifted to the child by its godparents, but can be gifted by other relatives and friends of the family as well. These angels are symbolic of receiving baptism as a guardian angel. They are abundantly available in a large variety which would satisfy even the most critical customer. There are wax or clay angels which are quite low priced, and there are also the crystal or silver ones which cost a bit more. The range of prices is also quite wide and you can easily find an angel to fit your budget.

Angel figures are also popular gifts that the parents of the child being baptised give to the child’s godparents or grandparents as thank you gifts. The tradition of thanking the guests with christening gifts is becoming more and more established. Hence the parents cannot do without any item or the other and these angels become the ideal give away.

Crosses are also preferred by god parents as they wish their godchildren the best. They want their godchildren to be protected from misfortune, have good health and live a long and happy life. These wishes are not something that can be expressed with materialistic gifts. The best that we can do is pray and hope that the guardian angel sent by god will convey these prayers to him and take care of the baptised child in a proper manner. It is a good idea to consecrate the cross during the baptismal ceremony and then keep it in the child’s room. You can even follow the tradition of hanging the cross over the baby’s bed. Although it is usually the godparents that gift the child a cross, even grandparents or other people can do the same, thereby wishing it the blessings of God.

Prayer cards are symbolic gifts for special occasions like the sacrament of Baptism, first communion, or confirmation or simply even a family gathering. During christening occasions, the parents of the child being baptised, often get these cards consecrated at church and give them as thanking gifts for coming to the ceremony and blessing the child.
