A set of unit that is universal and anyone in the world using those standard would be able to achieve the same results.

In the early of times the unit of length was based on human bodies. For example the Egyptians used cubits as the measurement of length, a cubit is about 52 centimetres or about the size of a human forearms. In the United Kingdoms, the British imperial system standard measurement for anything was set by the ruler of time, for example a foot would be how far the king would move in one step, or the size of their feet or arm. The fault seems to be very clear in this technique, with every different ruler the measurement system would change and there would be no standardization.

Therefore, there arrived some set of unit which were readily accepted by the technological world and are being followed to this day. The most famous system of units is the metric system, in metric system length is meter, and force is Newton etc. This system is mostly followed by the whole world except for a few countries. The second most famous system of unit is the imperial system. In imperial system length is in inches and force is in pounds etc. These system of units are inter convertible, that means any value in one system can be converted into its equivalent in the other system.

Every system of unit has some base quantities which are the most fundamental units of the system and every other quantity is derived from those fundamental quantities. These fundamental quantities include length, mass, time, amount of substance, electric current, light intensity and temperature.

The metric system (i.e. m, kg, s) is followed by most of the world where as the United States, United Kingdoms and Canada follow the imperial system (in, pound, s). Since both system of units are very widely used it is therefore necessary that there must be formula to inter convert their values. To convert measurement from inches to centimeter the following conversion can be used

1 in = 2.54 cm

Or

1 cm = 0.3937 in

This is how inches and centimetres are related to each other. Using these conversion formula we can easily estimate how long is 170 cm and 155 cm in feet.

Before moving further it is important to mention that 1 feet is equal to 12 inches.

In the second equation if we simply multiply both sides with 170 we can get the answer for how much 170 cm are in inches

1 * 170 cm = 0.3937 * 170 in

170 cm = 66.9 in

Dividing inches by 12

170 cm = 5.57 ft

Similarly for 155 cm we multiply 155

1 * 155 cm = 0.3937 * 155 in

155 cm = 61.02 in

Dividing inches by 12

155 cm = 5.08 ft

So therefore, 170 cm is equivalent to 66.9 inches and 5.57 ft whereas 155 cm is equivalent to 61.02 inches and 5.08 ft

Some of the common conversion of 155 cm other than meter and foot are given in the table below
