Impressive Journey to Zhongyue Temple

Surrounded by hills, the scenery here is greatly beautiful. The temple was first built in the Qin Dynasty . Zhongyue Temple was named Taishi Temple in the past. Emperor Wudi of the Western Han Dynasty commanded Zhongyue Temple to be built up further, and emperors of other later dynasties did so as well. During the time of Emperor Qianlong of the Qing Dynasty, the Zhongyue Temple was adequately remodeled.

The complex of the Zhongyue Temple is similar to what it used to be after the reconstruction during the Qing Dynasty. It covers an area of over 100 thousand square meters and is 6500 meters long measured from the Zhonghua Gate. It is the largest and best-preserved ancient temple architectural complex on Songshan Mountain. Now, there are over 400 historic buildings in the complex, comprising  Dian Gong ,towers, pavilions, gates and so on.

There are hundreds of ancient cypresses that were planted during the period from the Han Dynasty to the Song Dynasty. On the side, There are more than 100 tablets from the Northern Dynasties, tablets of the Tang Dynasty, Balingzhuang of the Song Dynasty, iron statues of the Song Dynasty, tablets of the Jin Dynasty, iron lions from the Jing and Ming Dynasties, and tablets with pictures of China's five famous mountains from the Ming Dynasty. Besides these ancient buildings and the inscriptions on stone tablets and ancient bronze ,there are also over 100 block on which classics of Taoism are carved.
