Setting Realistic Goals

If you do not know this by know, motivation and goals are connected. You need to be motivated in order to accomplish a certain dream. However, you should be aware of the fact that before you will be able to reach your ultimate goal, you will have to invest a lot of time and energy into getting one step closer to it.

There are many individuals out there who are certain that they can do anything they want. However, when they try to reach a particular goal, they fail. The truth is that you can do whatever you desire and be whomever you want. So, what is the problem here? Did you not work enough? Are you not good enough? The sad thing is that you are probably thinking about yourself the same way. However, this is a really wrong perspective. This is one of the ways that you will put yourself down.

Just think about it. There are many people out there that will try to hurt you. Why should you do that to yourself? Has it ever crossed your mind that maybe you do not know how to set realistic goals? Most probably, this is the obstacle that does not allow you to accomplish any of your dreams. First of all, you need to give yourself time. Use your ultimate goal as motivation. However, you need to set many other small goals that will help you in the process. Think about your dream. Maybe you want to become a wood carver.

If you fail the first time you try to carve a piece of wood, you should not feel disappointed. Use this failure as motivation to continue working harder in order to accomplish your dream. Even if you did not succeed today, you might succeed tomorrow. If that does not happen, there are many other days that you could use for practice. Now, if you think that this is the type of dream that takes forever to accomplish, you should try to motivate yourself by setting a small goal every single day or every week.

For instance, you could start by working on a simpler project and learning the most basic wood carving technique. Depending on how much time you can dedicate to this project, you should set an end date. For instance, if you can work only one hour a day, you should consider completing the project in one or two months. Keep at it and see what happens. If you think that you will be able to complete it in a few days, you are definitely making a mistake. Wood carving is difficult and requires you to develop certain skills. Give yourself enough time so that you can practice as much as required to be able to become a wood carver.
