The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) in Bangalore was established in 1980 and is a globally recognized institution for higher education in the medical sciences.It is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi University of health Sciences, Bangalore, and Karnataka.This institute is recognized by Medical Council of India (MCI) & Government of India permanently for running MBBS course.It is also recognized by World Health Organization,General Medical Council United Kingdom,and the Royal college of obstetrics and gynecologists London. The college has two campuses, namely Puram campus & Banashankari campus. It has two primary sections in the campus pre-clinical and para clinical departments. It is ranked in the top thirties when compared to colleges all over India.The college, also strives to achieve the overall development of a child apart from achieving academic excellence. The college thus, believes in the overall development of the students.

The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences offers a number of medical undergraduate and post graduate courses like MBBS,MD, MS, Diploma.etc.in various medical disciplines.This institute believes in the motto SATHATHA SEVA THATHPARATHE, which means “Always devoted to the service”. The college campus hospital has 810 beds and also includes super specialty services like cardiology, neurology, pathology, gynecology, surgery, post mortem etc.

The Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences has the best infrastructure facilities equipped with labs, classrooms, library, cafeteria, etc. Admission to this college involves candidates to have passed 12th standard and should have obtained 50% aggregate marks in Physics, Chemistry and Biology (taken together) and should have passed English as one of the subjects. The candidate should be 17 yrs of age or above.The candidates are selected based on the Common Entrance Test (C.E.T), conducted once a year by the Karnataka Government or COMED-K conducted by the Consortium of Pvt Medical Colleges of Karnataka once a year for all the students from the state & country seeking admission into the course.

The direct admission in the medical college can be done through NRI/Management quota.Each private medical college has 25% of the total number of seats reserved for a high fee. Out of 25% seats, 10% seats are reserved for management quota. Due to the increasing number of students taking admission for an MBBS year by year even direct admission in the Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences (KIMS) Management Quota Admission is difficult. Medical admission under management quota is the process by which the candidates can seek admission to a particular college of their choice for MBBS course. For Kempegowda Institute of Medical Sciences Management Quota Admission the candidates have to pay a capitation fee as set by the college. The MBBS seats under management quota are limited to a small percentage of total number of medical seats.
