Telemedicine portal eVaidya.com, a product of Hyderabad-based healthcare start-up eHealth Access Pvt Ltd, has raised additional funding of Rs 3.5crore from existing investors and two new investors. Jayadeep Reddy, CEO e Health Access tells “We would be utilizing a major chunk of this for technology development and growth,” he said. eVaidya.com specializes in providing healthcare solutions through advanced telemedicine technology. It has a panel of over 500 doctors and over 40,000 registered customers. It enables free patient-doctor interaction through a health forum. Here, patients can ask a health related question and get advice from doctors. They can also interact with the doctors over telephone/mobile, video conference, chat or email. Patients can upload their medical records for free. If the patient wants to consult a specialist, they can opt for health plans starting from Rs 99 to Rs 2499. “Our main focus is to make primary healthcare easy, quickly accessible and cost-effective by creating innovative consumer-driven healthcare solutions for individuals and employers with the support of a multi-specialty group of doctors on our board,” Jayadeep stated. eVaidya runs a dedicated medical helpline wherein doctors are available 24/7 for advice. As it is a telemedicine service, eVaidya can only help in non-emergency conditions, working on primary and preventive healthcare. “When it comes to cost involved in using our service, research shows that by using this service, a single family effectively saves more than Rs 5000 a year,” the website states. How does the service work? If you register at eVaidya, they will give you an auto generated ID, which can be saved in your mobile. This will give you easy access while making a call. This unique number ID is the point of reference. “We make it easier to contact a doctor at anytime, at one’s convenience, from anywhere, without having to meet the doctor personally to resolve primary health issues,” eVaidya promises.
