There is no thinking otherwise; boxing is trendy and boxing gyms Sydney city in New South Wales (NSW) have popped up all over the place. The good news is that they are staying. People who start boxing love boxing, learning the benefits almost immediately. Boxing is quick, boxing is fast, boxing is high energy, and boxing is pretty addictive. Plus, it tones you everywhere, gets you fit and strong and leaves you feeling fabulous.

Beginner’s boxing

Everyone has to start somewhere. It’s a good idea to get a personal trainer in NSW when you first start boxing, although once you know the ropes you are welcome to join scheduled classes. There are a number of types of boxing, including straight forward boxing, Muay Thai which is a Thai form of boxing, and Cross Training which includes boxing and gnarl fitness. Each one is good and as a beginner you can read up about the options and ask the boxing gyms, or ask a personal trainer in NSW which option is recommended for you.

How often should I box?

For anything to be worthwhile, it should be done as regularly as possible. A jogger should try and try three or four times a week. A fitness trainer should be at the gym three times per week, plus. And boxing, because of its intensity, should be done twice a week at least. Once a week is fine, and it’s fun, but the harder you work, the better the results will be. Many boxers go to classes just once weekly, and participate in other forms of fitness training too.  It’s personal, and you need to see what works for you.

Why boxing?

Boxing works every part of your body. Your arms will develop strength, your legs will be strong, your core has to work the whole time, never mind the workout that your back, shoulders, hips, thighs and even feet are getting. With boxing you sculpt every muscle, every minute. It’s also a great cardio workout, and just twenty minutes (maybe ten) of boxing will leave you feeling exhausted but exhilarated. Boxing works, it burns calories, it helps with balance, and it helps hugely with stress relief too. How wonderful to box away your worries!

How to choose a boxing trainer

Almost all good gyms have an online presence and you can use the internet to find a boxing gym in your neighbourhood, one that has a good reputation. Unless it’s a small gym, they are likely to have a number of boxing trainers, each with an online profile. Read up about them, see who appeals to you, or who has references that appeal to you, and make contact. Most trainers will offer a free session, and you can also watch online videos to get an idea of what is expected from you, and at a session.
