The Wonders of San Isidro

There are several interesting and exciting places to visit in Lima. If you come here, there’s no shortage of things to do. There are several monuments, architectural sites, parks and beaches that you can visit. Many guests who stay at the best hotel in Lima also visit the well-known San Isidro district.

This district is very glamorous and modern looking with tall buildings, gardens, parks, plazas and all modern conveniences. It’s known for its carefully manicured lawns, green zones and tourist friendly neighborhoods. El Olivar

At the heart of San Isidro is a park that has several ancient olive trees. These were planted by the colonists about 450 years ago and are still thriving; people from all over Lima enjoy walking amidst them. The park was declared a national monument in 1959 after the government realized its cultural and environmental significance. With the protected status in place, those trees are sure to survive for several hundred years more.

Aristocratic Vibe

San Isidro was the seat of the aristocracy during the colonial times. Despite the rapid modernization in this district, the place still retains that environment of elite class. This is, perhaps reinforced by some very old mansions belonging to aristocratic families that had settled here. Huaca Huallamarca

The structure might look modern but Huaca Huallamarca is ancient. The architectural marvel is nestled amongst the tall, modern buildings in San Isidro. Its construction is attributed to the Lima culture and now the pyramid has been fully restored to its former glory. Financial Center

San Isidro is the financial hub of Peru. Many national and international banks are headquartered here. The district is also home to several embassies and consulates of different countries. The people here belong to different religions and cultures, making San Isidro one of the more diverse places in Peru.
