How to Change a Tire on Your Hydraulic Log Splitter

This article covers how to change the tires on your hydraulic Log splitter factory.

A hydraulic log splitter allows you to take larger logs and split them into fire-place-sized pieces without having to use the brute force that’s required for an ax or a sledgehammer and wedge.

Here are the tools you’re going to need in order to make sure that you can move your log splitter from one place to another.

Before starting, make sure to check the pressure of the tire. If you don’t know how to find the proper tire pressure,

you find it by looking on the side wall of the tire.

Tools you will need:

1.jack

2.socket wrench

3. breaker bar

Step 1 - Preparation

First you’re going to want to buy a replacement tire and a rim. You can find a replacement at a farm supply store.

The next part of your preparation is moving the log splitter on to a flat surface, preferably that would be cement.

Step 2 - Remove the Lug Nuts

Now find the right size of socket wrench in order to remove the original lug nuts from the rim of the tire.

Depending on the size, there will be a different amount of lug nuts on the tire.

This  Tractor log splitter can range from one simple lug nut to six on each tire.

Next use your socket to loosen each one of the lug nuts a half turn.

This is where the breaker bar comes in handy, if the lug nuts are too tight you use the breaker bar to loosen them up.

A breaker bar is a simple tool used to give everything leverage when using a ratchet or wrench.

Now you just need to use a pipe about twelve inches long. Pace the pipe at the end of said wrench and then press down.

That’s how to use a breaker bar to dislodge any lug nut no matter how old or rusty.

Step 3 - Floor Jack

Use the jack to raise the log splitter, raise it until the tire is up off the ground far enough to spin on their own.

Finally remove the tire from the machine and observe the threads.

Step 4 - Replace Tire

Now put the new tire on matching it to the lug threads. Finally place the lug nuts back on the new tire.

Tighten the lug nuts as tight as you can and now you’re just about finished

Step 5 - Lower It

Finally let the jack down, so that you can return the log splitter back down to the ground.

You do this by turning the release valve counterclockwise.

Now tighten the lug nuts one more time just to be sure that they’re tight enough to keep the wheels from falling off.

Step 6 - Check the Pressure
 
Just like you checked Log splitter accessories the pressure before you started, check the tire pressure again.

You want to make sure that your pressure is remaining at the appropriate level.
