The biggest challenge all the Indian students that opt for overseas education face is the management of the finances for their higher education. Students at times had to discontinue just because they are unable to cope up with the expenses. This problem will occur only when you do not calculate your expenses properly when you are planning to study abroad. It is therefore important to first get a clear understanding of the expenses that you are likely to incur when you choose to study in New Zealand.

First, list all the expenses that you are likely to incur when you want to study overseas. The major expense comes in the form of the tuition fee for your college. The tuition fee varies from one college to the other. You will therefore need to compare the fee structure of different colleges. This will help you allocate the right budget towards the college tuition fee.

When you are collecting information about the college tuition fee, you should try to get as much information as possible. Check whether there are any other hidden fees involved such as exam fee or other types of fee, which may not be indicated initially, but levied at a later stage. You need to ask specific questions regarding such expenses so that you are not greeted with surprises.

The next major expense comes in the form of airfares. Depending on the duration of the course, you may choose to stay back in New Zealand for the entire period or come home once or twice during your course period. Calculate such expenses as well. At times, it will prove to be economical to travel to India if you have a long vacation whereby you need to meet the day to day expenses. Make prudent calculations so that you could make the right decisions when it comes to deciding your travel plans.

Try to gather as much information as possible on the daily, weekly and monthly expenses for your survival in the country when you opt for New Zealand education. You will need to talk to education consultants to understand the expenses. You may not be able to do guess work and estimate your expenses just based on the guesswork.

Accommodation is the next biggest expense. You can choose to stay in an individual accommodation or go for sharing. When you share your room with other students, you will also share the expenses on the rentals. If you could get college hostel, you will be able to save a lot of money, as college hostels are likely to be lot cheaper when compared to private accommodation options.

When you are in a foreign country like New Zealand, which attracts thousands of tourists every year, you cannot simply stay indoor the entire time. You might want to explore the country as a tourist time and again. This expense should also be taken into account when you are calculating your expenses for New Zealand education.
