As always, the better the scan, the better RESTORE is able to help.

No blizzards, just pictures.

This may cause your image to lose detail. In particular, dark eye sockets become ghoulish black voids. If at all possible, scan only the image. When you scan large borders or include acres of white space along with your image, the scanner often treats that as part of the image, and the exposure will be incorrectly set. This can drive the darker portions of your images to be even darker.

Space. The last frontier.

One more minor hint. Black and White can save space. True Black and White provides just that, an image where each pixel is either black or white. You don’t want that for any image, and you don’t even really want that for a scanned document, because it limits your ability to improve the look of the document.
