The T-shirt is a defining icon of a generation. An explosion of clothes as adverts in the last 50 years has produced some incredibly memorable brands and images gracing the fabric of countless t-shirt designs around the world. But what is it about certain t-shirts that make stars gravitate towards certain designs? As long as their contracts don't dictate what they can and can't wear the t-shirt is a constant staple on even the lowliest film stars gaping wardrobe.

Comedians

The world's favourite comedians include the likes of Bill Hicks, Jerry Seinfeld, Billy Connolly, Chris Rock and Woody Allen. Their brand of humour has made them known everywhere as funny people. But what sort of t-shirts do comedians prefer? Well you would think that they would opt for some kind of offensive t-shirt or a rude t shirt of some kind, but for comedians their life is spent on the road and on the stage and when they are on stage they have to be able to maintain a persona. If their t-shirt has a particular slogan it can often detract from their own jokes. For this reason comedians tend to where plain t-shirts.

Sportsmen

Sports people at the top of their game are very often tied into lucrative sponsorship deals with sports companies. For example people like Wayne Rooney, Roger george not found merch  and Lewis Hamilton, if they wear a t-shirt would most likely be seen in a slogan t-shirt supplied by their sponsor. Any deviation from their contract could spell real trouble for their contracts.

Celebrities

One thing celebrities avoid, are offensive t-shirts. Being seen in public with racist, homophobic or otherwise offensive t-shirts on their back is only going to affect their profile and reduce their earnings considerably. Unless of course you are someone like Jack Black, in which case some funny t-shirts or a novelty t-shirt suits their personality just right.

Politicians

Most politicians only ever wear suits with a shirt and a tie. You would imagine that they even sleep in them in case they are called to an emergency meeting at night. On the rare occasions you do see politicians away from the office the only type of t-shirt you are likely to see them wearing is a slogan t-shirt. Politicians like to support good causes so when they have the chance to wear a Greenpeace t-shirt or a 'Save the Whales' t-shirt, they will jump at the chance...even though they always tend to look a bit funny not wearing a suit.
