The Growing Use of Drones

In recent years, the use of drones has increased drastically. A drone is an unmanned aerial vehicle. They can be multirotor (three or more propellers) or quadcopters (four propellers). Military drones are large, unmanned aircraft that fly above the ground and have an unmanned pilot.

The concept of using drones to deliver packages and parcels was first developed in the Thirties. After the Vietnam War, other countries began to explore technology. Throughout the following decades, drones have become more advanced and more efficient. They now have improved endurance and range and some are even powered by solar energy. Currently, drones can carry out a variety of tasks, and the military is using them to enhance the effectiveness of its military forces.

The advent of drone technology has raised privacy concerns about their use. However, there is a clear need for drones in a variety of applications, including the delivery of critical medical supplies. Drones are also useful in search-and-rescue operations. The military and the CIA are the two main organizations that use drones. The United States Air Force has increased the number of combat air patrols with drones by 600 percent in six years and plans to have 50 drones in operation by 2011. The CIA's Leon Panetta recently said that drones are the "only game in town" in the war on terror, and has even used drones to assassinate suspected militants in Pakistan and Afghanistan.
