Eat Right When You Have HIV

Good nutrition is essential for the management of all chronic diseases, including human immunodeficiency virus (HIV) infection. Although there are no substantiated studies to support the link between diet and HIV treatment, eating the right diet can definitely impact your overall health.

More specifically, HIV alters the immune response by killing CD4 (immune) cells. Your body is forced to use more nutrients than a healthy person, so you need a better "immune-friendly" diet. Anti-HIV drugs require a balanced and frequent diet to prevent opportunistic infections and reduce HIV symptoms and complications.

To get started, consider these tips:

Go Colorful With Your Meals

Many fruits and vegetables can protect the immune system from viral damage. As you may know, most fruits such as blueberries and elderberries are rich in antioxidants. Also, extract the right vitamins and minerals from your diet to maintain a perfect balance of nutrients.

Choose Lean Proteins

In addition to a strong immune system, the body needs strength. Most antiretroviral drugs, including lamivudine tablet 150, cause side effects such as muscle and bone pain, arm and leg tingling, and weakness. To address these issues, you can choose lean proteins. Foods with lean protein are low in saturated fat. Common examples include lean beef, eggs, beans, and chicken.

Go For Whole Grains

Like fuel for your car, whole grains give your body energy to perform various functions

Whole grain foods are rich in energy-giving fiber and vitamins. Plus, eating lots of fiber helps your body rid itself of the most common HIV. H. Lipodystrophy (a condition in which the body stores excess fat).

Include Anti-Inflammatory Foods

Your immune system is already "on" as it struggles to fight off infections. As you may know, inflammation (swelling) is more likely to occur when the immune system is activated. However, this can be managed with certain foods with anti-inflammatory properties such as tomatoes, Chinese cabbage, walnuts, almonds, coconut oil, salmon and spinach.

You may not be able to balance all the nutrients in your diet while adding essential multivitamins and minerals such as calcium. Therefore, certain dietary supplements can do this for you. However, it is absolutely important to seek the advice of your doctor before starting any new dietary supplement.
