In the World Rugby rankings, Fabien Galthie's team is now ranked second to Ireland. But the 2003 World Cup champion coach is confident that home advantage will lead to a French victory in nine months.

In a recent article for Sportmail, Woodward declared: "I need to choose France, for the purpose that in my point of view they are the No. 1 squad in the world right now, despite the fact that actual rankings depict Ireland to be in that spot."

"It's a huge plus point for any team to play in our home ground. I wouldn't bet on France to win the World Cup if it were being held in South Africa or New Zealand. I devote a lot of time serving in France nowadays, and that's why I am able to keep track of the enthusiasm the French people have for this side. French rugby is in a brilliant era right currently. They possibly overcome their squad and win the Rugby World Cup, in my opinion."

Clive Woodward England’s supervision journey

Former England player and national team coach Clive Woodward is most known for leading the team to a Rugby World Cup victory in 2003. He also served as the team's coach from 1997 to 2004.

His playing career began with Harlequins in 1974, and in 1979, after a stint at Loughborough University, he switched to Leicester. On January 19, 1980, he made his England debut as a substitute against Ireland. He went on to earn 21 caps at a centre. With his final appearance coming against Wales on March 17, 1984.

Additionally, he was chosen to travel to South Africa in 1980 and New Zealand in 1983 with the British Lions. By earning a total of two caps. He travelled to Australia in 1985 for work, where he played soccer for the Manly club in Sydney.

He started his coaching career with Henley upon his return to the UK in 1990, and after stints with Bath and London Irish, he eventually took over as head coach of the England team in 1997, succeeding Jack Rowell.

The next year, a dismal tour of Australia, New Zealand, and South Africa that became known as the "tour of hell" included a record 76-0 loss to the Wallabies. When his team was defeated by South Africa in the quarterfinals of the 1999 Rugby World Cup, Woodward publicly sought to be assessed on the team's performance.

His request was met with criticism. The Rugby Football Union continued to support him, and as a result, he won the Six Nations in 2000 and 2001 and a highly desired Grand Slam in 2003.

Victory in Rugby World Cup 2003

Then, in Australia for the Rugby World Cup 2003, Jonny Wilkinson scored a last-second drop goal to give his team a 20-17 victory over the reigning champions and hosts of the competition. In the 2004 New Year's honours, he was nominated. After his team's victory, Woodward chose to stay in the position. However, his team didn't achieve the same high standards in 2004.

So he decided to step down later in the year. By that point, he had already agreed to lead the British & Irish Lions on their 2005 tour of New Zealand. The administration of the tour in its entirety was questioned, and the tourists lost the Test series 3-0.

Before leaving Southampton Football Club in 2006, Woodward held positions there as director of football and director of performance after leaving rugby. He was named the new director of elite performance for the British Olympic Association later that year, purportedly after being rejected for the director of elite rugby position with the Rugby Football Union.

England Vs Japan Rugby World Cup

Eddie Jones' England and Japan had a thrilling encounter. I believe it was one of the games in the competition. During the pool rounds of the France Rugby World Cup 2023, the former coach of Japan will compete against his old squad. On September 17 in the Rugby World Cup 2023, England will play against Japan's rugby team.

A rivalry between two of rugby's rising stars will take place between two Webb Ellis Cup favourites. The environment will be fantastic. Fasten your seatbelts for an exciting trip. The game will take place at Stade de Nice in Nice and begin at 21:00 local time.

Overview

The last time England and Japan played was in the 2022 Autumn Nations Series; can the Brave Blossoms accomplish what they failed to achieve at Twickenham and secure a significant victory?

Clive Woodward Remarked

“It's like having a 16th man at home. France will receive outstanding backing. 50/50 calls typically come in when you're at home. In 2003, we would have won the tournament by a score of 25 if we had been performing locally as an England squad rather than going to Australia. The home-field advantage is significant, particularly when you have a side of such strength.”

In regard to England, which is now led by Steve Borthwick rather than Eddie Jones. Woodward is hoping that the former Leicester coach would revive English rugby from the low point. It is currently in after 2022 when only 5 of the 12 Test games were won.

"We need to leave Jones behind right away. He is no longer there. The old adage "The king is dead, long live the king" is applicable here. To protect their own necks, Jones' most ardent supporters in the RFU put him in danger. Finally, I was just moved to feel terrible for Jones. Better was due to him. Three years ago, he might have been put leave in a respectful way rather than suffering a public stoning."

As an England Competitor

When seen from the perspective of England's competitors. They would have been elated if Jones had retained in position.  A better world with England's experience and talent may and will be a scary idea. The more Steve Borthwick comes to mind, the more I believe he has the ability to surprise people.

He'll develop a competitive crew. My brief piece of recommendation to Borthwick is simply to go for it! The guys, does he have them? Certainly. I genuinely thought I rarely repeat the disgusting phrases "starters" and "finishers" again!

Choose players correctly and positioned them effectively according to their skills.  I desire that he choose wings that fly quickly! I won't be able for him to rescue English rugby from the actual position of inferiority, on as well as off the field. Yes, he is capable of doing that.”
