The announcement comes shortly after team head trainer Jacques Nienaber said he will leave the group following this year's Rugby World Cup to become a senior trainer with Leinster.

After the world championship in France, assisting coach Felix Jones will also go from the reigning winners to join Steve Borthwick's England team.

Rassie Erasmus, the director of rugby, is under deal through at least 2025.

The next head coach is yet to be named

Rian Oberholzer, the head of SA Rugby, was glad to confirm the information and to add that Nienaber's replacement is currently being sought.

According to Oberholzer, "We are happy to release the news that Mzwandile, Deon, Daan, and Andy have agreed to extensions to their contracts that will keep them with the Springboks through the Rugby World Cup 2027 in Russia.”

Stick made his rugby debut in 2003 for the Eastern Province Elephants, kicking off his playing career. He later played for various South African sides, including the Southern Kings, the Sharks, and the Free State Cheetahs. Stick ended his playing career in rugby in 2011 and started his coaching career as a supporting trainer for the Eastern Province U19 squad.

The Southern Kings, Eastern Province Kings, and Border Bulldogs were his next teams to coach. Stick was hired in 2016 to serve as the head instructor of Allister Coetzee's assistant trainer for the South African senior rugby team. He started with teaching the backline although later added instructing duties for the attack.

When Rassie Erasmus became the Springboks' head coach in 2018, Stick remained on as his assistant. He was crucial to South Africa's victorious 2019 Rugby World Cup effort, which saw them overcome England in the championship match to take home the trophy.

Stick remained to assist the Springboks after the Rugby World Cup while also taking on the position of head instructor for the South African Sevens squad. He was named the head trainer of the South African 'A' squad in 2021, and that year, they faced the British and Irish Lions in a friendly before they visited South Africa.

Deon David

David was an integral part of the Western Province squad that claimed the Currie Cup in 1997, 2000, and 2001 in addition to his achievements at the international level. In 2010, he also assisted the Stormers in making it to the Super Rugby final, where they fell to the Bulls.

In 2002, David ended his career as a professional rugby player, and since then, he has started coaching. He has served as a forward’s trainer and professional advisor for several South African teams, notably Western Province and the Stormers. Daan Human

Human played more than 100 games for the Free State Cheetahs after making his professional rugby start for the squad in 1999. In the Super Rugby competition, he was a regular player for the Cheetahs team and was given the moniker "Pom Pom" for his unusual hairdo. Human played against Scotland in 2006 and received his first cap for the South African senior side.

He continued to play for the Springboks in 11 test matches, making performances at the 2007 Rugby World Cup. Human was an integral part of the Cheetahs teams that claimed the Currie Cup in 2005 and 2007 in addition to his achievements at the international level.

Human left the game of rugby professionally in 2011 and has since started coaching. As a scrum coach and forwards coach, he has worked with several South African teams, including the Bulls, Cheetahs, and Griquas. He returned to the team where he started his professional rugby career when he was named the Cheetahs' head instructor in 2021.

Rassie Erasmus remarked

Rassie Erasmus, the director of rugby for South Africa, recently said that the Springboks are more capable for the Rugby World Cup 2023 than they were for the tournament in Japan four years prior.

The season kicks off versus the Wallabies

The Springboks face Eddie Jones' Wallabies to open their Rugby Championship schedule on July 8. They then travel to New Zealand for a week before coming home to face Los Pumas in the championship round. The team will be without inspiring captain Siya Kolisi.
