What kind of blade do you use to cut concrete?

The cutting process is used for concrete when there are cracks or potholes on the surface. There are many different techniques for cutting concrete that can be done with blades. There are several blades like a concrete blade, Asphalt Blade, and diamond blade. For the cutting application, there is a need to use different strategies. If one can follow all those strategies, then cutting jobs will be done in an easy way.

The question is why there is a need to cut concrete? Well, it is only done when we find a problem on the surface of the concrete. There is a difference in the production of asphalt and concrete. Asphalt is a kind of carpet that lays down on the surface of the ground. It is a mixture of many stones that comes in different diameters. Some of them are bigger, some of them are small. Other ingredients like sand, silt, and special asphalt glue, are used in its manufacturing. When all these ingredients are mixed together, then a compound is produced named asphalt.

The manufacturing of concrete is different from asphalt. In its production, fine sand along with cement and water is used. We can add stones of unassociated sizes as well. When all these ingredients are combined, then a strong bonding is created in the mixture. That bonding will last for a long time. The chemistry of asphalt mixture is not as strong as concrete. So, if there are similarities in both compositions, then there are dissimilarities as well.

The selection of blades depends on the quality of the concrete. Many versions of the cutting saw can be seen with distinct power. Some blades ought to be used for splitting concrete, like circular saw, concrete blade and, Asphalt Blade is one of them.

Use of Asphalt Blade

The structure of this blade is not like that of other blades. The edges come in a U-shaped form. Each segment of the blade is coated with tiny diamonds that help it to cut through. The quality of these blades varies according to the power of the machine. As the bonding ability is tough in concrete, there is a need for a high-quality blade. The concrete can be cut down with an asphalt blade but it will take more time and more strength. The common aim of this saw is grinding.

If we use this blade for a long time for the cutting application, heat is initiated because of the friction. The heating effect will cause damage to your blade. We can use water while cutting but the blade will lose its quality. The continuous cutting will burst the diamonds then we cannot use the blade for further tasks.

So, the purpose of this blade is for grinding, not for cutting. The cutting can be done under certain circumstances. If the cutting object is not strong, then we can use this blade. Asphalt is split down with this blade because of its less strong bonding.

Use of Concrete Blade

The structure of the concrete blade draft for cutting concrete. As the name indicates, this blade is for concrete. The edges are so sharp that they can cut the surface with less time. These blades are installed in the circular saw and run according to the power of the machine. If the diameter of the slab is small, then we can use the blade according to the size. If the diameter is substantial, then a big saber is required with a high horsepower circular saw.

Use of Circular Saw

A Circular saw is a machine for cutting many materials like asphalt, wood, concrete, metal, and other objects. The gadget only works if we install the blade in it. The selection of the cutlass depends on the cutting material. This instrument has different qualities and power. So, always buy or use one which is suitable for the task.

Much other equipment is functional for splitting the concrete. There is a big cutting machine that comes with a massive blade. Such gadgets can help in doing tasks within time and also it consumes less human power. Some hacks can help us in performing our cutting application with less consumption of time and capacity.

Hacks for Cutting Concrete with Asphalt Blade

  • Use water while cutting concrete. It will maintain the heat of the cutlass, which will save the lifespan of the blade.

  • Trace the cutting area with the help of the chalk. It will help you in cutting only that specific area which is needed to cut down.

  • Measure the diameter of your slab, then select the blade and circular saw according to that.

  • Always pause while cutting. It will help you not to lose the quality of the equipment. Also, you can manage the heating effect.
