Rugby World Cup 2023: Eden Park reveals first watches for RWC

Posted by World Wide Tickets And Hospitality on May 27th, 2023

Eden Park exposed its inauguration watch collection this week with Alpine watchmaker Herbelin; with the sportily chic label in a bullish attitude, on the eve of the RWC in France. Our creation mix is fresh and tempting, France will be packed with fans this autumn, and we could not be happier with the new timepiece set, explained Franck Mesnel founder, popular stockholder and famed French rugby star.

Rugby World Cup fans from all over the world are called to book France Rugby World Cup tickets from our online platform WorldWideTicketsandHospitality.com Rugby fans can book France Rugby World Cup Tickets on our website at exclusively discounted prices.

Created under warrant by Herbelin, a family-owned watchmaker dating back three-quarters of an era, the watch line achieves to capture the spirit of Eden Park, without ever being cliched. Hence its curvy rectangular shape references Eden Park, the legendary national stadium in New Zealand, and the hardest ground in rugby for a visiting side. Like RWC fans the watches look sturdy, reliable, tough and smart.

Each watch also joins Eden Park’s pink bow-tie logo; each watchband is cut with red-white-and-blue thread; each brings the brand’s motto, French Flair. The collection is separated into two groups: French Flair Sport and French Flair Club.  All watches carry Roman figures on the top, and Arabic below the halfway line, like rival teams in rugby. Sport is for guys who play rugby, Club is for those who watch games in the stand, explained Benjamin Theurillat, partner and sales boss in Herbelin.

RWC 2023: Eden Park watches estimated sale
Looking ahead, Theurillat guesses the Eden Park watches to retail in some 300 points of sale by the end of this year, and some 1,000 globally within three years. Valued competitively at between €400 and €600, the watches seem a savvy addition to the Eden Park creation range. Herbelin understood our idea perfectly, plus it’s nice to work with a reputable French producer, smiled Mesnel.

Mesnel founded the Eden Park brand after playing in the first-ever Rugby World Cup Final in the ground of the same name back in 1987. France lost to hosts New Zealand that day, but five young French rugby men luckily launched a winning streak with the product. Its famed pink bow tie logo halting from a well-lubricated dinner after a French contest final, with the colour referencing Pink Panther, the mascot of Mesnel’s Paris team Racing.

A fit, no-nonsense figure, Mesnel is true enough to admit that five years ago Eden Park was in serious trouble, running up huge bills with a new IT scheme, and a less than attentive offer. But the brand has recoiled back post-pandemic, helped by smart new stores, which eschew the previous panelled club look of clean white lines and deferring. Our DNA is always based on rugby, and the quality of its value at an authentic price.

France Rugby World Cup 2023: Eden Park is a refuge brand

When times are difficult people feel at home in Eden Park, describes Mesnel, who despite salt and pepper hair is a strangely youthful 60-year-old, almost uncannily not that different from his magnificence days on the field. Key elements in the brand DNA are its shy forms, like the pink bow tie, seen even within flower prints; overstated bow ties in engine washable cotton blazers; sporting tone-on-tone stripes in jacket linings and difference-clipped soft-collar shirts.

All Eden Park polo shirts are made in Peru of premium Pima cotton, manmade in local plants first developed by Lacoste, ensuring first-rate varnishes. Eden Park today retails in 39 nations, boasting over 550 points of sale. Buoyed by the RWC, Mesnel is aiming for €75 million for 2023 incomes, a strong double-digit progress on last year. In an impressive profession, Mesnel played 58 times for France, participating in three Rugby World Cups.

In a decade-long run, he also earned the Five Nations or European championship five times, finishing his first Grand Slam in Dublin. Fleet-footed and elegant, attacking centre, three years later Mesnel counted twice against Ireland in one game in Paris. That effective rapport with Ireland has continued to today, with several shops in the Republic, and even a fully-fledged Eden Park boutique in Belfast.

How does Mesnel view France’s odds in the RWC 2023
Hundreds of thousands of rugby admirers are expected in France for the Rugby World Cup, arranged to run from September 8 until October 28. How does Mesnel, an expert critic of rugby, view France’s chances in the upcoming contest? Like Ireland, France has never won the final prize, even though coming second three times. Well, I was with Romain Ntamack just, and he looked pretty calm.

Funnily it is harder to play at home than away in the Rugby World Cup. When you play overseas, it forces a certain collective unity. But this side has already won a world cup (2018 World Rugby Under 20 Contest), so maybe they now have what it takes to win a full world cup, completes Mesnel. Rugby World Cup splendour is all but certain for France after Antoine Dupont's cloning

Some measure greatness by the number of titles won, some by the figure of caps won, some by the number of tries recorded, but we all know the true degree of greatness is whether you have your wax statue, and France’s Antoine Dupont has finally touched that level of greatness. France Rugby World Cup No9 lately attended the unveiling of his wax statue at the Musee Grevin in Paris.

This should come as a relief to any of his opponents that thought the 2021 World Rugby Player of the Year had been copied. The RWC star took benefit of his side’s Heineken Champions Cup semi-final exit to Leinster to visit the museum while there was no game this week. He was also linked at the museum, factually and in wax form, by former France and Toulouse fly-half Frederic Michalak.
