Performing Umrah as a solo traveller can be the best experience if you care about some things and acts. You will navigate the holy city once you follow the tips discussed in this article. Although Umrah is an act that can be performed in a group, as a family, etc., you can also serve it as a Solo man or woman. The Saudi government has allowed solo women to conduct Umrah at any time.

A solo traveller must be careful of everything, such as surroundings, physical care, etc. Once you have done the Umrah (the shorter pilgrimage), you can go to some destinations in the holy city of Mecca. Let’s explore some extraordinary guidelines for having an experienced pilgrimage as a solo traveller.

Make sure to book your solo Umrah trip early:

Booking for any trip in advance is a mandatory step of your travelling. One must have to book early their Umrah trip. When you are about to book your trip, you must tell your travel agent that you are a solo person going to depart. Because there is a slight difference between solo and group travelling, always get your Umrah package in advance to avoid last-minute hassles.

Select a safe and secure accommodation in the holy cities:

Although the holy cities are safe and secure as you go there to perform the pilgrimage, there can be some threats, so you should be careful. Accommodation usually lies in three categories: three, four, or five-star. You can select the package according to your budget and preferences. But if we consider the other side, you can also share the room with other pilgrims.

Be careful when navigating the holy cities:

As a solo person, you should look for yourself and your hand luggage when exploring the sacred cities. There are many holy sites in Mecca and Medina that you can visit. Usually, you will be allowed to book Ziyarats in advance when you book your Umrah package.

In Ziyarats and holy sites, try to communicate with other pilgrims and make some friends. Make yourself stress-free and relax. Visit the sacred locations as they deserve, remember that you are in the holy cities, and be careful of using bad words, disputes and other worldly matters. If you have some hand luggage, carry it all the time with you or keep it in your hotel. Take advantage of Holy sites by offering two Rakat of Nafl prayers.

Arrange your transportation:

Transportation is also necessary for travelling between the cities. Sometimes, your hotels also give you a shuttle service, and you may get ground transportation. But you can also arrange your private or public transport. Personal vehicles can be costly, but having the budget and experience travel agent can lead to success. You can use bullet trains and buses in Mecca and Medina in public transportation. Usually, one must travel between Mecca, Medina, and Jeddah for Umrah. You know that Jeddah is the gateway to Mecca, while Medina also has an airport.

Make shopping and mindful of the surroundings:

Sopping has now become an essential part of performing the pilgrimage. You can buy many things and gifts for your loved ones and friends. If you have older individuals in your family, don’t forget to purchase blessings for them. When you are doing the shopping, keep in mind that you are in the market and take care of your shopping and luggage. Be mindful of pickpockets that are common to every supermarket. Although these are the holy cities, you should be active and careful.

Summary

To summarise, going for the Umrah journey, solo or with family/group, is your best chance. Thank Allah (SWT) for this blessed opportunity, and take advantage of this spiritual journey. Prepare yourself spiritually, mentally and physically to have the best pilgrimage experience. Ensure that you are following the rules of pilgrimage and the Saudi government. I hope you will have a memorable Umrah and navigate the holy cities.
