Denmark Vs England Tickets: UEFA are looking to make Euro 2024 their greenest tournament ever, with Gareth Southgate and the FA following that direction with their travel plans for the summer. England are set to be forced to make a six-hour roundtrip journey by coach for their second Euro 2024 group game against Denmark. The aim is to reduce the tournament's carbon footprint, with UEFA spending £25million on a range of measures to make the tournament the greenest ever. Denmark Vs England: New Rules For England Coach For Euro 2024

The Three Lions will take on the Danes, Serbia and Slovenia in the tournament in Germany this summer. The FA have selected the five-star resort of Golfresort Weimarer Land near the town of Blankenhain as the base camp for Gareth Southgate's squad. From that base in the east of the country, they will travel to Gelsenkirchen to take on Serbia, Frankfurt to face Denmark and Cologne for the clash with Slovenia. UEFA's new sustainability rules will restrict the transport options available to them for those matches.

UEFA guidance states that teams are expected to make journeys of around three hours by road or rail. While it is not a mandated measure, the Daily Mail report the FA have decided to follow that directive for the game against Denmark. England's squad still faces an arduous journey, with the coach to the Waldstadion set to take three hours. The game will kick off at 6 pm, though such a long coach journey is unusual for elite players.

Chiefs have held talks with boss Southgate and have decided to make the 180-mile journey to Frankfurt's Waldstadion by coach. The two other group games are over four hours away by road so travelling by coach has been deemed 'impractical. The FAs have until 24 February to submit their travel plans to UEFA, with their plans for the knockout stages still to be finalised. Michele Uva, UEFA's director for social and environmental sustainability, has been pleased to see her area prioritised.

UEFA Euro Championship, England’s Leading Sustainability Standards

The UEFA European Championship is the third-largest sporting event in the world, followed by billions of fans across the globe. It spreads passion for our game, unifies people and breaks down cultural barriers," he said. In line with increased societal expectations England around football needs to accelerate action around social and environmental sustainability, this is our chance to lead by example by delivering the tournament to the highest sustainability standards.

Southgate meanwhile is now putting his full focus into winning England's first major trophy since 1966. The Three Lions boss is positive about his team's hopes, having finished as runners-up in Euro 2020. I have stood here after quite a few draws and you always feel the same way. You can look at it on paper but the games are not played on paper. There are one or two teams you are glad to avoid, but all of the teams we are playing are more than capable, he said.

We are hugely excited to be part of the tournament, we know the expectation at home, we have developed a lot as a team over the last few years and we are getting used to these big games, so we are ready for that expectation and we hope we can give our supporters some more brilliant nights, like we have over the last few tournaments.”

England’s players are facing a six-hour round trip by coach to reach their European Championship group game against Denmark this summer due to UEFA’s sustainability rules. UEFA have committed to making this summer’s tournament in Germany the greenest ever and is spending £25million on a range of sustainability measures, which includes asking teams to avoid air travel wherever possible.UEFA’s guidance is understood to state that it is reasonable to expect sides to make journeys of around three hours by road or rail to cut emissions, although this has not been mandated.

UEFA Euro 2024 Tickets: Elite Players Adjust to Unusual Three-Hour Coach Journey

A three-hour coach journey however is still unusual for elite players, many of whom are accustomed to taking flights lasting a matter of minutes to travel to matches with their clubs. The FA’s decision to take a coach trip will add to the players’ journey time, as the nearest airport to their hotel is just 30 miles away at Erfurt-Weimar, from where it is a 31-minute flight to Frankfurt.

As a result, the players will be in for a relatively late night given Southgate’s preference to return to base camp immediately after matches so they can recover properly the next day, although the 6 pm kick-off should enable them to be back at HQ between midnight and 1 am. The only other venue within driving distance of England’s hotel is the Olympic Stadium in Berlin, which will stage the final, and even that is further than UEFA’s three-hour guidelines.

Gareth Southgate the FA has decided to follow UEFA’s directives for England’s second group C game against Denmark in Frankfurt, a 180-mile journey from their training camp at the Golfrestort Weimarer Land near Leipzig. England’s two other group games in Gelsenkirchen and Cologne, against Serbia and Slovenia respectively, are over four hours away from their base camp by road so coach travel has been deemed impractical.

The 23-year-old has been in sparkling form for Brendan Rodgers' side this season, with 10 goals and 12 assists in 33 matches in all competitions. Those performances earned the playmaker his first cap for Kasper Hjulmand's senior side last year, starting in a 2-0 defeat to Northern Ireland back in November. Also added that O'Riley's desire to try and break into the Denmark squad will give him a good chance of making the squad for Euro 2024, with the Danes drawn in Group C alongside England, Serbia and Slovenia. We had a training session in the summer with a mix between U-21 and full international players before the June internationals", he stated. Matt came along voluntarily and did well. That goes to show that he wants to progress and play for Denmark.

We watched the game against Bodo/Glimt in Europe at Parkhead and then I spoke to him afterwards. It turned out that he was very interested in playing for Denmark. At first, he was picked for the U-21s, but we sensed right away that he was a genuine lad who is very ambitious." Wieghorst won one league title and two League Cups with Celtic between 1995 and 2002.

The FA and other competing nations have until 24 February to submit their travel plans to the Euro Cup England’s travel plans for knockout stages have yet to be finalised, although given the distances involved it is unlikely there will be any other coach trips. Morten Wieghorst has revealed his role in helping Matt O'Riley become a full Denmark international - and has backed the Celtic star to bag a seat on the plane to the Euro 2024.
