Chamomile tea bags are quicker and easier option to use to prepare a cup of tea whenever you need it. These are also available in different herbal blends like chamomile with lavender, green tea, mint, citrus, turmeric, etc. The addition of complementary herbs makes the tea taste better and enhances its properties.

More About Chamomile

The chamomile plant is scientifically called Camellia sinensis and is native to Europe and Asia. It is also grown in the North and South Americas. The plant is commonly found in the wild and can be grown at home. The chamomile flowers are collected and dried (along with their steps). These are then lightly processed and packaged into loose tea and tea bags.

Chamomile tea has a yellow body and a subtly sweet aroma. It tastes light and airy with a hint of bitter undertones. However, a stronger brew has a darker taste. Add a touch of honey (or sugar) to sweeten the tea if you don’t prefer the bitter note. You can also taste a touch of pollen and floweriness in the tea (people with pollen allergies should be careful as chamomile tea might trigger the allergy).

Nevertheless, you don’t have to worry about caffeine when consuming chamomile tea. Most blends of chamomile teas don’t have caffeine, though it’s best to read the ingredients on the packaging.

However, note that chamomile is considered a mild sedative as it helps the mind and body relax. Drinking too much of it in a day is not advisable. Stick to three cups (maximum) per day and maintain enough gaps between each cup.

Chamomile and Herbal Blends

Unsurprisingly, not everyone enjoys the taste of chamomile. They prefer blends like chamomile green tea, chamomile lavender, or chamomile mint citrus to experience an extra hit of other flavors. Such blended herbal and botanical teas can also provide some minor health benefits.
