What to Expect at An Aqualyx Consultation?

Posted by Mr. Sultan Hassan on January 16th, 2017

Aqualyx is the fat-reducing injectable that breaks up fat deposits to remodel and reshape fatty areas on your body. It is a safe, non-surgical procedure to eliminate stubborn fat, which cannot be removed conventionally via exercise and healthy eating habits. On an Aqualyx consultation, the cosmetic surgeon will explain what this injectable solution can treat and what you can expect after treatment. Only consider having Aqualyx injections once you have found a licensed, board-certified, and experienced cosmetic surgeon who is known to provide them. Here are some of the things you can expect at an Aqualyx consultation:

  • More information on Aqualyx – The aqueous compound solution has slow-release sugars to minimise the solution’s biological half-life to reduce side effects. It works by altering the fat cell membrane’s surface tension while increasing that membrane’s permeability. An ultrasound tool will be applied over the targeted area to let the liquids move outside and inside the fat cells to make them break up. Broken down fat cells are drained into the body, which will metabolise them through your lymphatic system to be excreted.

  • Information on where Aqualyx can be injected – A cosmetic surgeon can use Aqualyx to eliminate fat from your cheeks, arms, inner and outer thighs, neck, and buttocks. Once treated, the fat cells are permanently discharged from your body.

  • How the procedure goes – Aqualyx can be done in a day in about 15 to 45 minutes, depending on the areas that must be treated. The injections may not be painful, but you may experience minimal discomfort. Specially designed needles are used, and they are very fine. Often, every treated area requires only one to two injection sites. For best results, you may need more than one treatment.

  • What to expect in the aftermath – Treated areas may feel tender and look swollen, which will increase in the first one to two days. Rest assured, the swelling will go down after one week. The treated areas may feel warm, too, and you may notice skin irritation and redness for a few days as well. Massaging those areas may improve the results, and you should notice improvement after three to six weeks. Improvements will continue for up to six months.

  • Tips on the things you must do after treatment - Your cosmetic surgeon will recommend a pressure garment, which you must wear to help minimise the swelling. You will not be advised to take anti-inflammatory medicines because they will reduce the efficacy of Aqualyx. It is recommended that you avoid exposing yourself to extreme temperatures for a week after your treatment, too.
