Shopping Local in Bee Cave, Texas

Posted by Brian Talley on March 17th, 2017

When the hustle and bustle of Austin city life loses its appeal, prospective home buyers often look  to the suburbs and to the City of Bee Cave, Texas, a charming small town west of Austin near Westlake Hills. Bee Cave luxury homes are far enough away from Austin proper to provide the peace and quiet of country living, yet close enough for a short commute.

One factor in searching for a new home is proximity to conveniently located and ample retail shopping. The Hill Country Galleria, popular with Westlake residents, provides area residents with a multitude of retail shopping options close to home and continues to evolve and grow with the town.

In 2010, the Galleria was, under its previous ownership, in bankruptcy, and retail occupancy was at 60 percent. It was far from the thriving marketplace it is now, but things turned around when the Galleria was purchased in 2010. Within a few years, the shopping center was at near full occupancy, providing dozens of desirable shopping and dining destinations for consumers and generating sales taxes that assist the Bee Cave community, a win-win for local residents.

Some of these shopping destinations are local Austin businesses that have expanded outside of the city, while others are nationwide chains. Austin restaurants are well-represented at the Galleria, with local favorites such as Amy’s Ice Cream, the Buenos Aires Café, Madam Mam’s, and Whole Foods. A few of the national stores with Hill Country Galleria locations include Dick’s Sporting Goods, Bath and Body Works, Banana Republic, Sunglasses Hut, and Dillard’s. The center also leases office space, with corporate offices, dental and medical practices, and salons.

These are but a sample of the businesses at the Hill Country Galleria, and by design, the Galleria continues to grow and improve. A portion of the sales tax generated by the shopping center is reinvested into the infrastructure and future development of the Galleria, ensuring that the number of retail options in Bee Cave for consumers will continue to increase and that the Hill Country Galleria will continue to thrive for years to come.
