The basic essay structure

The basic structure for writing essay has to be kept in mind before developing an essay. An essay consists of an introduction paragraph, body paragraphs and a conclusion paragraph.

The introduction paragraph should contain a hook, something that entices the readers towards your essay. After engaging the readers the essential information to understand the main idea or context should be provided. Thereafter the focus should be on the thesis or the main idea of the essay.

After you have presented the thesis you can start with writing the body. The body paragraphs are meant to support the thesis with arguments, details, examples, description, narration and more depending on the kind of essay you are writing. A longer essay may include expert opinion, quotation, secondary sources and more. But when you are writing a short essay comprising 200-300 words you probably won't include secondary sources.

After you write strong body is to write your concluding paragraphs. In the conclusion, you should summarise your main point and restate the thesis. It is important to think the reader as a person with a very short memory. So at the end of your essay, you should remind them of the main idea of your essay. You have to end your essay with a stronger statement as you have started. Make sure your final paragraph is interesting in some way.
