For single parents, vacation may not always be front-of-mind (or financially viable). But Velas Resorts, a collection of Mexican luxury hotel properties, is trying to change that.To get more travel news, you can visit shine news official website.

From now through December 22, 2018, Velas properties in Baja California, Riviera Maya, Riviera Nayarit, and beyond are waiving their single-supplement fee — an additional charge of up to 25% for travelers who stay in a double room solo, nearly ubiquitous in the industry. Whether you’re waterfront on the Bay of Banderas at Velas Vallarta or Grand Velas Riviera Nayarit, sunning yourself at Grand Velas Los Cabos, or exploring the Yucatan Peninsula from Grand Velas Riviera Maya, each resort is equipped with pools, full-service spas, luxury dining, and getaway trips into town.

“For the past several decades, the number of single parent households has been growing (up to 27% now according to the 2017 U.S. Census Bureau), and we’ve seen an increasing number of them coming to our resorts,” Juan Vela, VP of Velas Resorts told Travel + Leisure. “The idea [for the promotion] is to offer activities that foster quality time together [while also providing] services and facilities that make it easy for the single parent to have time to themself while the kids are having fun.”

Families can check out anything from complimentary (and Instagram-worthy) cooking classes, sand castle building, and human foosball tournaments to drive-in movies, eco-cycling tours, and straw mosaic workshops to learn the pre-Hispanic technique of arte en popotillo, or “straw paintings.” Each resort includes free Kids’ Clubs for children ages 4-12, offering Spanish lessons, piñata making, cooking classes, kite-crafting workshops, and more, while families traveling with younger children have an available “Baby Concierge” at the Grand Velas resort properties to help with everything from cribs to gourmet baby food. “[Single-parent families] are a demographic that is only now being addressed by more travel and hotel companies,” Vela said. “To many of these single parents, this is their first trip to one of our resorts. We ensure a great stay for them and their child or children, and they’ll come back, together, in girlfriend or guy getaways, and maybe as couples.”
