This is the era of technology and you just cannot do with it. Charging a number of applications that make use of batteries is customary and few people are reluctant to venture out without the ubiquitous charger in tow. All that is set to change now though! Wireless charging is becoming intensely popular and invading into our lives rapidly. From smartphones, to health appliances and manufacturing industries wireless charging has become a reality now. So, why should cars be any different?

BMW, the German based automobile manufacturer has come out and announced the availability of wireless charges systems for its cars. It is indeed a first as no other auto company had figured out the convenience of utilizing the wireless technology in their cars. No to be outdone, Mercedes-Benz has also revealed similar to be introduced soon for the S-Class cars of the company.

The system is about to be produced July 2018 onward and BMW is already accepting orders across the United States apart from China, Germany, UK and Japan. It might help to inquire at the nearest center offering BMW service Greensboro in order to remain abreast the latest news about this amazing system. The wireless system will not be compatible with all of BMW’s models though The Auto manufacturer has plans to upgrade its ‘BMW 5 Series 530e iPerformance’ model that comes with a plug in capability.

The unit that will be responsible for charging the electric car consists of a Ground Pad that can be plugged into a power source. The coil within the pad transfers the electric energy by making use of the magnetic field in the vicinity to a secondary coil that happens to be located in the vehicle itself. The process is known as inductive charging and has already evident in chargers that are employed on electric toothbrushes. The difference in size will not affect the efficacy of the charger though. Unfortunately, you would not be able to buy a charger or get it fixed at the nearest BMW repair shop immediately. You need to wait for at least a year or more until the system is incorporated fully and becomes convenient to be used regularly.

BMW has ruled out any problems arising with the wireless charging system though. The auto manufacturer believes it to be highly effective with the issues being few and far between. The present charging capacity of the ground pad is 3.2 kilo watts that is enough to fully charge a ‘9.2 kilo watt-hour battery’ of the 530e iPerformance vehicle within three and a half hours.

The prospects certainly look attractive and the electric car owners are elated at not having to fumble with the cable for charging their cars the instant it enters the garage. The dangers of starting the car with cable inside are totally eliminated as well.
