The Benefits to having a personal Cubicle Desk

Posted by Office Furniture on January 29th, 2019

Long, shared desks seem to be all the trend today but there is still a lot to be said for the cubicle desk. The conference room style of office and the bright open plan offices can be very distracting and stressful for people working in various areas of business. A cubicle desk gives you a place to call your own, where you can get some quiet and recharge. Shared working spaces can be great for exchanging ideas, improve teamwork and help with collaborative projects, but they can also impede you from doing your best work.

The cubicle desk came in to being around 50 years ago after it was found that the open office space was extremely chaotic. The noise and distractions were counterproductive and stressful. Having a cubicle space with a cubicle desk to call your own made a big difference. There was less visual disturbances, less chatting across desks and sound and activity was reduced across the space as well. Cubicle spaces could also incorporate everything required for personal computing and power needs. Even though an open office space may be cheaper on furniture and fittings, the loss in productiveness and the stress on staff makes considering cubicle desks a good alternative.

Another advantage of the cubicle desk is that you can personalize it. Having your own space where you can keep personal items can be relaxing and also reflects your personality and who you are. Some of the items that can be used to turn your cubicle desk into a personal space include:

  •  Adding plants for color and to boost your mood
  •  Adding paintings, comic strips, artworks
  •  Putting up posters and action figures
  •  Putting up meaningful quotes and motivational saying
  •  Adding your favorite sport's teams colors
  •  Put up personal photos
  •  Cover the walls with personal art, children's' drawings etc.

It doesn't take much to make your cubicle desk into a spot where you can focus and be extra productive while ensuring that teamwork and collaboration still take place. Conference rooms and other open spaces make for better meeting areas where the work can be discussed without distraction.
