Invisual E. Inc. is pleased to announce the offer of a welding camera system combined with automated height control as a tool for improving welding automation and quality control.

The ICAM welding camera system extends the operator’s view of the weld zone by providing real time display and capture of the weld arc. Setup, remote guidance, inspection, process control, quality and operator health and safety are prime reasons for the ICAM in welding automation.

In combination our iWeld-STM provides automatic height control via a closed loop motion control algorithm to assist the operator during the arc welding process. The scanner operates with an accuracy of +/- 50microns or 0.002” and scans at a rate of 250Hz. Seam tracking mode:

  • Set setpoint, tolerance limits, deadband limits
  • Auto home sequence
  • Run in Manual and Auto mode
  • Jog the slides via touchscreen or joystick
  • Displays the setpoint value and error
  • IO for turning on/off the arc welding process
  • E-stop

The arc weld viewing camera has the following capabilities:

  • Manual or motorized zoom lens
  • 60frames per second
  • Dynamic range > 140dB
  • Auto brightness and exposure adjustment
  • No blooming effects or image artifacts in scene
  • Stand alone system with direct video connect
  • Reticule overlay

Says the clients who have implemented the system, “ We were looking for something that could improve our productivity. The welding camera was a nice option and we didn’t want to go to a fully automated seam tracking system. For arc welding, this combination of a welding camera with automatic control of the vertical axis is a good middle ground.” For customers requiring improved quality and productivity, this system is a proven tool for welding automation.
