Can I Upgrade My Car or Motorcycle Lights to LED Bulbs?

Posted by ff on March 11th, 2020

You may have noticed brands of new cars and motorcycles, such as BMW and Audi, using LED lights on tails, brakes and indicators.

With daylight running lights required by all Europeans, LED bulbs are also commonly used in front.

The advantages of LED bulbs are obvious.

They produce very \"clean\" white light, which is more energy-efficient, vibration-resistant, and often has a life expectancy that exceeds the vehicle.

For old cars or motorcycles, standard filament bulbs can now be replaced with LED, which can not only provide a unique look, but also get all the advantages of LED lights.

Most applications have replacement bulbs.

Replace the standard headlights. There is no previous sled bulb.

They are not bright enough.

However, vehicles with factory-installed daylight-running lights can often upgrade these bulbs separately from the main beam or the dipping beam to the LED.

The long life of LED bulbs is great for running lights as they are always on.

LED bulbs can be used for front fog lamps, but should only be considered as \"display use \".

They are not bright enough to provide decent light output, but there is no need for fog lamps in MOT.

Tail and brake upgrade LED bulbs are available for rear and brake applications in red and white.

This is a useful upgrade considering the safety implications of the brake light failure.

LED lighting can also enhance the indicator and side repeater.

According to the color of the indicator lens, the bulb has two colors, white and yellow.

Orientation and 360 degree LED provide flexibility for different types of accessories, the first two main problems with the reflection of LED bulbs are to install the upgraded LED bulbs on cars and motorcycles. Benefits: low power consumption of bulbs.

In the output system of two old bulbs (

General purpose Volvo brake lights)

And the modern CanBus system (

Used for old BMW and almost many new cars)

Low power consumption can sometimes fool the system into thinking that the upgraded bulb is not working.

Increasing the resistance together with the bulb wiring increases the bulb resistance so that the system works properly.

The just-on-the-market bulb is now a built-in resistor bulb, avoiding adding any wiringIndicators-compliant bulbs to cars of almost all ages, and flashing faster when the bulb fails

After-sales LED upgrades can sometimes cause error warnings for the same reason.

In this case, you can choose to add

Line resistance, or replace with an indicator relay/flashing unit designed for low power drain.

The design of the LED replacement is the same as the ordinary filament bulb, but due to the nature of the technology, the actual body will usually be smaller or larger.

Before purchasing, please check whether the height and width are suitable for the lens body.

While tail and brakes are generally not a problem, there is a very limited space for some vehicle side lights and indicator housing.

Self-driving if you are thinking of upgrading your car or motorcycle with an LED bulb. co.

There are the most common accessory types in the UK, as well as resistance kits, replacement flash unit and accessories.
