How to Have a Spotlessly Clean Kitchen

Posted by Cleaning Company London on March 15th, 2020

Kitchen is the most used room in our homes and many people find it hard to keep it clean all the time. After all, it is the place where we prepare food and feed and where we gather with friends and spend time with our family. Kitchen is one of the major rooms in our home and it is of great importance to take the best care of it.

With all of these activities, you may wonder if it is even possible to keep your kitchen clean without you having to spend of all of your time and energy cleaning it? What if we tell you that it is? Here we will share some tricks to the trade followed by highly professional chefs and dedicated cleaning experts.

1. Do it while you are doing it!

One truly important rule that professional cooks and tidy people follow is to clean while they are cooking. Have you thought about it? In case you do not own a dishwasher, you can keep the sink full of soapy water so that you can wash the dishes and utensils while you cook. This is a very useful tip as it also helps prevent cross-contamination because the dirty dishes and the food you prepare are not sharing counter space. Useful, isn’t it?

2. Keep it all in order

Put all those appliances and decorations you do not use away. If you are not so much into baking and you actually bake from time to time, why surrender counter space to your mixer? Designate other space for it, in the cupboard for example. Try to leave out those appliances you only use regularly. Also, if you cannot wash something, do not put it on the counter because it will only collect dust and grease.

3. Make the cleaning process easier

Having to look for your cleaning supplies for ages or walk across the whole kitchen to throw waste simply means that you will not do it that often. You can make your own natural all-purpose cleaner and keep it under the sink with a few microfiber cloths to deal with the spills and splatters straight away. When cooking, put a bowl on the counter to hold packaging and wrappers so that you can throw the garbage all at once. Remember to keep a bag out for reusable scraps or peels.

4. Do not let things sit… for ages

Take your time to wipe counters and wash dishes right after every meal instead of leaving them for a later… or never. If you get into the habit of doing this, your sink will be free. If there is a pan which must soak before scrubbing it, a good idea is to set a reminder so that you will not forget to deal with it later.

5. Closed!

Get into the habit of closing the kitchen down after dinner. You can follow this cleaning kitchen checklist or you can think of your own. But at least:

- Make sure the sink is free and clean
- Turn on the dishwasher
- Wipe the stove top and counters
- Wipe the inside of the microwave
- Sweep or vacuum the floor to pick up crumbs and leftovers
- Set out a clean towel and laundry the dirty one

As you can see, keeping your kitchen clean is not that hard once you master those simple tips. Take advantage of them and try to apply them every day unless you have enough time and energy to spare for a deep weekend cleaning… every weekend.

We understand that not everybody is into cleaning so if you think that you will not be able to adapt the habit of applying these tips regularly, you can always book a professional cleaning company to give you a hand with the kitchen chores.
