Modi asked the Finance Minister to take all necessary action under Economic Response Task Force and urged the people to impose ‘Janta curfew’ on March 22 from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM as a measure to combat the deadly coronavirus or COVID-19.
Modi also appealed the public not to indulge in panic buying while stating that there is no scarcity of essential commodities.
“I appeal to all not to go into panic buying to store essential commodities. Steps being taken to ensure that there is no scarcity of essential commodities. I assure the countrymen that all step are being taken to ensure that there is no shortage of essential goods like milk, food items and medicines,” Modi said.

In India, the number of positive cases for coronavirus or COVID-19 has soared up to 173 and four deaths have been recorded. The Union Health Ministry informed that the fourth death was reported in Punjab and the patient who died was elderly. The Press Bureau of Information released a note issued by the central government to curb the spread of the coronavirus. The note from the government advises people above the age of 65 and all children below 10 should remain at their homes. The public representative, government servants and medical professional who are above 65 have been exempted from the same.
