Enjoying nature has become an activity that's more and more cherished these days. People are beginning to realize how some outdoor time is something that's helping us stay happy and healthy. We spend many hours either working or just being indoors. This is why it's important to make good use of our free time and spend it connecting to nature. Going out for a hike is great, but taking a few days off and really detaching from everything artificial is incomparable. There are, though, some things that you need to do first in order to really enjoy your camping time to the fullest. You need to be prepared for a few things that can go sideways because nature, although beautiful, can be a bit unpredictable. We've gathered some tips on organizing, storing and cleaning your camping gear so that you're certain that everything will go according to plan.

Plan everything out

When trying to organize, store and clean your camping gear, it's good to have a rough outline. This way, you won't get into a situation where you're in a rush to finish everything up. When the time comes for your camping trip, you'll be all set.

  • Take a pen and paper
It's best to start organizing, storing and cleaning your camping gear by simply writing down everything that you'll need to achieve it. Once you've taken matters into your own hands, everything will start to go more smoothly.
  • See if you have everything that you need
Before assembling your camping gear, it's smart to see if you own everything you'll be using. Depending on where you live, you may be in need of some additional adjustments in accordance with the weather. If you, for example, live somewhere where winters get pretty chilly, it's smart to own ski pack supplies so that you can make the most out of your trips.

Organizing, storing and cleaning your camping gear with ease

The main thing that you should be concerned with when it comes to organizing, storing and cleaning your camping equipment is keeping it simple. Especially if you're someone who goes camping often, you need to have a routine. This is mostly because, if you don't, a lot can go wrong.  If you make things too complicated, you're not going to want to stick to it every single time. And, as you already know, consistency is key.

Organizing

The most important thing with organizing, storing and cleaning your camping gear is, you guessed it, the first part. If you miss out on keeping your gear organized, you'll really be in trouble. You really cannot properly clean or store your camping gear if you're not able to find it.

Keeping everything tidy will make things so much easier for you. The first things, besides the obvious ones, that you'll want to pack are actually the things that people usually forget to bring to camping trips. Reading through other peoples' advice is useful. It can also easily spark inspiration for you and make you think of something you otherwise wouldn't have thought of.

Storing

When compared to organizing and cleaning, storing your camping gear might not sound as necessary. And it may not be. However, there are some case scenarios where storing your camping gear properly is quite crucial.

  • You've got kids
If this is the case, you probably don't need us to tell you this information. However, it's nice to be reminded from time to time that you shouldn't keep things that you want to maintain in a certain condition at your kids' reach. All the organizing, storing and cleaning your camping equipment will have been for naught if they get ruined.
  • You don't have enough space
You may just simply need to put your camping gear in some other place because you don't have room for it.
  • Some things need to be kept in a certain condition
If you happen to have some things in your camping equipment that need to be kept at a certain temperature such as allergy packs, you'll want to be extra careful when storing them.

The good thing about this is that you really don't need to go out of your way to make this happen. You can just find quality storage in your neighborhood or somewhere nearby and have your equipment ready to go.

If you do, however, have enough space in your home to organize, store and clean your camping gear without any bumps on the road, that's awesome. Just make sure that you use labeled containers. That way you'll be packed for your next camping trip in no time.

Cleaning

Keeping your equipment clean will not only make it easier for you to use, but it'll also inevitably save you a lot of money. If you're not really a neat freak and don't like to do the extra work, you could always hire someone to do the job for you. If this is, for whatever reason, still not a good enough option for you, that's okay. You could always consider buying refills and avoid having to clean at least those reusable items.

Not done

After you’ve finished with the organizing, storing and cleaning your camping gear, you're not really done yet. What you need to remember is that most of the damage to your camping equipment happens on the trips themselves. This means that you also need to be extra careful while out there, in the wild. If you follow and stick to these rules, we don't see why you wouldn't be able to use your gear for years to come.
