UNEP Monaco - using art to save the environment

Posted by juliabennet on March 2nd, 2013

While there are people dedicated to the welfare of the environment the unfortunate fact is that most people are blissfully aware of the damages we as humans are causing to Mother Nature and all the goodness she bestows upon us. Various governments across the world are spending millions upon millions to create awareness about saving the environment. They are succeeding to an extent but failing on many counts as well. Thankfully there are many private and not for profit organizations that are also doing a similar kind of job. The objective is to save Mother Nature at any cost. UNEP Monaco is an effort by aeamonaco.org to promote environment friendliness in a different way.

The Art & Environment Association was created by the artist Philippe Pastor in 2007 and the objective of the association is to promote the need of preserving the environment using various events and artistic exhibits. The association ties up with UNEP Monaco or the United Nations Environmental Programme and does this promotion of a different kind. You can visit aeamonaco.org for all details of the latest events and exhibitions.

The next project in the series is scheduled from 26 to 28 June and the event is sponsored by BNP Paribas along with other partners like Aéroport Nice de Cote d’Azur, Monaco Modern Art, federall and Nour Al Shorouk Center. And of course UNEP Monaco is one of the primary organizers of the event. The fund raised during the three day event will be used to rehabilitate the Tana River ecosystem. 80% of the Nairobi’s inhabitants, is by the way, depend on this ecosystem. One of the major exhibits during the event will be the “H2O” series of paintings of Philippe Pastor.

What egged Philippe Pastor on was the devastating forest fire in the Massif des Maures Forest in the southern part of France. He was witness to the devastation that happened in 2003 and he decided to express his anguish and anger through what he does best – using the language of art. When you become part of the event in June this year you will be completely touched by the exhibits and arts that will appeal to your innermost core and make you aware of how much devastation we are causing all over the globe. For more information on what all you can find in the event visit aeamonaco.org.

Different humans have different methods of understanding things – some prefer listening, some prefer touching and some prefer seeing. The UNEP Monaco event is all about seeing. This event, when you go through the details at aeamonaco.org, will point a finger at your eyes and make you see what we shouldn’t do as human beings.

It is our fervent appeal that you become part of UNEP Monaco 2013. You are also requested to spread the word around so that more people become aware of the event and contribute their two-bit for the success of the event. Information is available on aeamonaco.org and we urge you to spend time on the website to know more.

UNEP Monaco is a one of its kind art exhibition that has the sole purpose of increasing awareness about the environment and the dangers it is facing. Visit aeamonaco.org for the details.
