Complete data security with virtual desktop

For any organization that uses computers for business purposes there is the requirement for a server machine. All the data that is created in the workstations is backed up on the server. The server also performs additional jobs like data security, internet bandwidth maintenance and employee internet usage monitoring. While servers are the most robust machines they can still get damaged. And when the server machine is damaged all the data in it could be deleted and all security could be compromised. Cloud services address such accidental issues. In a virtual desktop environment all workstations would work as they normally would but the data would never be compromised.

Before you start to find out about virtual desktop systems it is better to know about cloud services. A cloud network is like a normal network except that there is no physical LAN required. There is a server machine to which all the workstations can be connected. However, the connection is done using the internet. So instead of physical there is a virtual networking in place. The server is not present in the office premises. It can be a physical server that is present at the data centre of the service provider or it can be a virtual machine that resides in the cloud.

Now let's look at the concept of the virtual desktop. This desktop is virtual in nature (as the name suggests) and there is no hardware requirement in this environment. One can access the server from any workstation or from any location and access a real desktop like environment. Here also the internet is at play because to access the virtual desktop one needs to connect using the internet. There is the requirement for authentication where an authorized user needs to key in their username and password to be able to access the desktop.

For a user there is no change in experience when they use desktops on cloud services. They can log in and work as they normally would. They can access all work applications and access data to do their work. Any work done can also be saved normally. However, for the organization there are a lot of changes that are brought about by such an arrangement.

Since the whole concept is virtual in nature there is less requirement for hardware. Moreover, any data saved is not saved in the user machine but in the server. So, it is not possible for a user to use data in an unauthorized manner and for an unauthorized purpose. Outsourcing this service also means that data security and maintenance responsibilities are with the vendor. This is a huge advantage of using a cloud services.

When your organization starts using cloud services you have a lot of headache off your mind. You know professionals are managing your virtual desktop environment that can only mean 100% connectivity, almost no downtime, proper maintenance, scalability and mobility and most importantly, huge cost saving for your organization. Now which organization wouldn’t want to avail so many benefits?

Switch to using cloud services and you experience an immediate enhanced level of data security. With a virtual desktop environment you can also save cost on hardware.
