There have been several discussions going on about this and the Supreme Court last month issued notices to the Information and Broadcasting Ministry and the Internet and Mobile Association of India (IAMAI) after a PIL was filed in the top court about censoring the content that is released on digital platforms.

The Indian government made Information and Broadcasting Ministry responsible for the digital content and all the web series, web films will go through a censorship process and would be controlled by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry. The Indian President Ram Nath Kovind issued a notification after signing the government order. There would be a lot of restrictions imposed in the future for the web series and web-based films. Even the web portals will be controlled by the Information and Broadcasting Ministry.
