Cold Storage for Your Bit Coins

Posted by anthonyohare2014 on April 22nd, 2014

With more and more of us using Bit Coins as a means of procuring products and services online it is necessary to have a way in which to store the information relating to our transactions in a way that can be both secure and easily called upon should it prove necessary.

To this end, and with there being a risk of the unscrupulous element of the World Wide Web trying to access such data, many of us are going for what is known as the ‘Cold Storage’ method.

‘Cold Storage’ simply means keeping the details of your Bit Coins and the transactions you have made with them on your hard drive in what is known as a wallet.

Generally we all tend to keep information of an important nature on our hard drives; some keep copies of emails, some details of banking transactions, whilst others keep photographs etc.  But in doing so there is a risk that something can go wrong without warning and this is something is beyond anyone’s control, even the most erstwhile of computer users who backup regularly or make sure their computer’s run in tip top condition.

We sadly cannot legislate for a piece of hardware that fails or a portion of software that becomes corrupt and ultimately causes a problem so to that end we are here on hand to help should you be unable to access your Bit Coin ‘Cold Storage’ should such an unforeseen event occur.

You may get a sense that a problem may be about to occur or that an error is causing an issue with your hard drive.  This may be because your computer begins to run slower than normal; something that many people put down to memory issues.  (Running a memory test program can determine if this is the case of not).  Normally though memory is not the problem when it comes to a computer slowing down.  It is more than likely that there is a problem underlying with the hard drive.

A memory problem will usually result in the computer no longer booting in any way and will display a series of messages etc.

So generally the cause of a hard drive problem is the hard drive itself and either general wear and tear has taken its toll or because a component within the hard drive has malfunctioned.

Popular failing components within a hard drive are the read/write heads that may come into contact with the platters if the actuator arm that carries them snaps, or the platters may incur damage if they touch each other due to a failure in the cushions of air that are normally passed between them.

Whatever the cause though we can help you recover your Bit Coin ‘Cold Storage’ if it has been saved on a hard drive that has failed.
