Aluminum Conductor Steel Reinforced (ACSR) conductors. As the name implies, it is made up of both aluminum and steel as a conductor. Aluminum is utilized as a conductor in this application due to its inexpensive cost and the fact that there isn\'t much of a difference in resistance between it and its counterpart, copper. Steel is utilized in this conductor to increase its strength, which is important because these ACSR conductors are used in power transmission lines.

The usage of an ACSR conductor is determined by the voltage carrying capability of the transmission line, like an ACSR Moose Conductor used in a 400 KV power line here is the list of some ACSR conductors and their area of use.

Weasel conductor
The weasel conductor is made up of seven strands. Six of the seven strands are made of aluminum, while the seventh is made of steel.
Weasel conductor is utilized in low tension lines with voltages ranging from 230V to 440V. This conductor is found in distribution lines that transport power from the distribution transformer to our houses.

Rabbit conductor
The ACSR Rabbit conductor is made up of seven strands. Six of the seven strands are made of aluminum, while the seventh is made of steel. The diameter of the strands differs between rabbit and weasel conductors, which modifies all of the conductor\'s qualities. In 11KV lines, rabbit conductor is utilized. As a result, it is utilized to carry power from the Power Substation to the Distribution Transformer.

Dog conductor
The dog conductor is made up of 13 strands. Six of the 13 strands are made of aluminum, while the other seven are made of steel. In 33KV lines, dog conductor is employed. As a result, it is utilized to carry power from the Power Generation Plant to the Power Substation.

Panther conductor
The panther conductor is made up of 37 strands. Thirty of the 37 strands are made of aluminum, while the remaining seven are made of steel. In 33KV lines, Panther conductor is also utilized. It is used to transport energy from the power plant to the power substation, but it is superior to the Dog conductor.

Furthermore, many aluminum plants also have a coal plant where coal byproducts are generated. Coal tar pitch and creosote oil are widely used. The qualities of this oil derived from coal or wood assist in the waterproofing and preservation of wood against a wide range of insects and viruses.

The advantages of using ACSR conductors.

• It is more conductive than copper.
• Higher reliability as a result of the steel wires that ensure the conductor\'s safety margins
• Because of its good mechanical resistance, better transport capacity, and high tensile strength, the ACSR conductor may be used for medium and long spans and requires less support.
• They are widely used for overhead ground wires, river crossings, and long-span installation due to their high strength.
• It is lightweight and cost-effective

ACSR conductors are designed in such a way that it gives a significant degree of strength, as well as high capacity wires capable of conducting a huge quantity of power. Due to its extravagance benefits, it is used worldwide.
