No matter how reliable the door is, without a quality lock it will not provide the proper level of protection. If you are looking for a universal lock for gates and various rooms, stop at the suvalny. The degree of reliability of the lever lock is very high. It got its name from the secret part of the metal plate. To open it, you need to line up all the metal plates in a certain order: this corresponds to the key. We talk about what lever locks are and how to choose them correctly in this article.

Lever lock: features and principle of operation

The product consists of metal plates of different shapes with holes that make up the key labyrinth. Most often levers are made of brass and steel. Also included in the device:

  • Lever stand blocking the operation of the lock in case of metal action on the crossbar. This is an excellent protection against drilling, as it is made mainly from hardened steel.
  • A deadbolt that sets the crossbar in motion. Often it is equipped with a toothed comb that prevents third-party keys from opening the lock.
  • A spring that returns the lever to its original secret position.
  • The well into which the key is inserted. They may be present on one or both sides. If there is a well on the outside, the lock is additionally equipped with a locking handle.
  • Housing made of metal with increased strength characteristics. It is best to buy a lock, the body of which is made of heat-treated steel.

Also integral parts of the design are the front bar and traction. Additional anti-burglary characteristics are provided by armored plates that prevent penetration into the interior of the castle.

Locks of this type can be classified based on different criteria:

  • Device type.
  • Type of movement levers.
  • Number of plates.

The types of locks are as follows:

  • Mortise. Great for metal doors. The most reliable.
  • Mounted. Most often used to equip garages. In terms of reliability, they are the least secure.

Depending on the movement, levers are distinguished:

  • Locks with rotary movement. In this case, the grooves, as it were, swing on the axis, lining up in the right order.
  • Locks with plane-parallel movement. The levers move in one plane and line up in a combination similar to the grooves on the key.

Please note that most lever locks can be recoded, which allows you to change the secret part of the mechanism without a complete replacement of the structure. This is very relevant, for example, when you have lost the key. Please note that there may be several lever plates in the castle:

  • Possible combinations - 100 - 500. We recommend installing the devices on wooden doors in the utility rooms.
  • The number of possible combinations - 1000. They have a high degree of reliability and will protect your home from penetration.
  • The most secure design, ideal for high security environments. Due to the high cost, it is practically not used to equip houses.
