Qatar Airways (QR) Business class Cuisine and Beverages

Qatar Airways is highly commended for its in-flight dining, which is always on demand and never served on time. This type of personalized service is preferred by passengers, although post-takeoff dining seems to be the most popular time to eat, especially on long-haul flights.

Drinks and ramekins of mixed arabica nuts begin to serve. Expected appetizer options include delicious Arabic appetizers or beautifully presented soups.

Main dishes vary between three and four courses, depending on the time of flight. You'll find a mix of destination-friendly and Middle Eastern options, including beef, poultry, seafood, and vegetarian options. There is often an Indian selection on the menu.

Desserts can be sweet pastries or cakes, exquisite presentations of fruit or cheese, and ice cream. Since food service in Qatar is à la carte, travelers can order what they want and when.

Insider tip: If possible, pre-book the things you want to enjoy on the plane so that flight attendants can have them available to enjoy later on the flight. For example, if you want pasta or a fruit plate before arrival, they will keep it for you.

Special meal options for Vegetarians, Halal food or Halal food are available for reservation before check-in.

There is always a menu at any time as well as a pre-arrival selection that varies depending on the time of day. On longer trips, there is often a snack station in the kitchen with chocolate bars, chips, and other snacks.

The only criticism of the onboard country service is that it can take time to serve food as everything is delivered upon request. The kitchen turns chaotic after takeoff. It's worth waiting to eat when you want, rather than relying on the airline's pre-determined meal schedule—and often not your body clock's timing. Travelers to Qatar can eat according to their schedule.

On selected routes departing from Doha, Business Class passengers can book the main route of their choice from 14 days to 24 hours prior to departure.

Access the Qatar Airways business class pre-selection service using your booking reference or e-ticket number and last name.

It is more of a first class experience than a business class experience, which is why Qatar gets such high marks in this regard.

Drinks
Before take off, there is a welcome drink and the choice between hot or cold hot towels. There is usually a choice between Brut and Rosé Champagne. Labels can vary, but often include familiar names like Lanson Black Label Champagne. There is also a drink called "So Jenny", which is a non-alcoholic sparkling wine. At Air, the drinks list is impressive and served on its own.

The wine list includes a full page description with photos of each bottle. Selections include three white wines, three red wines, a sweet white wine, and a port. The flight attendants receive enough training on what kind of wine they recommend with each dish, and they almost always pour that wine right at their seats in this restaurant for a touch of finesse.

During Ramadan, when other airlines ban alcoholic beverages on some flights, Qatar continues to serve drinks before departure, though it places the drinks in the galley to respect the religious norms of other passengers.

A long list of cocktails and mocktails is available, including classics like the Old Fashioned or the Dry Martini. Spirits range from Bombay Sapphire and Jack Daniels to Chivas Regal and Kahlo. Beers regularly include Heineken and Peroni.

Dilmah tea is served on Qatar Airways flights, and specialty coffees include Americano, espresso, latte, and macchiato. Arabic coffee and saffron or cardamom tea and hot chocolate are also available.

There's a bottle of water waiting for you on your seat when you board, and the flight attendants are always on hand to provide another on request. Sparkling water by the glass is always an option.

A flight search on BusinessClass.com includes information on whether champagne is served in business and first class on many airlines. We're doing our best to keep track of any changes, but feel free to let us know if we've missed anything.
