Air Pollution can Come From anywhere

Air Pollution

Air contains 78% nitrogen, 21% oxygen, 0.9% argon. Other elements include carbon dioxide, water vapor, hydrogen and other trace elements. Although gases such as carbon dioxide and methane may be present in only small absolute numbers, their external heat dissipation capabilities make them the biggest factor in accelerating climate change. Air pollution occurs when the composition of the air changes, in terms of volume, or in chemical, physical or biological properties. The atmosphere is a delicate balance of elements and particles. Any imbalance, even in small amounts, can be harmful to living organisms, including animals and crops.

Air pollution is caused by a mixture of carbon dioxide, methane, and nitrogen dioxide, such as carbon dioxide, nitrogen dioxide, and is emitted from point-like sources such as fuel-burning factories and motor vehicles. Some gases are visible to the naked eye and can sometimes be hidden in the atmosphere. On the other hand, such as mascara and black carbon, pollution pollution is always visible.

Types of Sources

There are four main sorts of pollution sources:

• Mobile resources - such as cars, buses, trucks and trains

• Stationary sources such as power plants, industrial facilities and factories

Area sources - such as agricultural, cities and wood burn places

• Natural resources - such as dust blown, forest  fire  and volcanoes

Mobile sources account for quite half all the pollution within the us and therefore the primary mobile source of pollution is that the automobile, consistent with the Environmental Protection Agency. Stationary sources, like power plants, emit large amounts of pollution from one location, these also are referred to as point sources of pollution. Area sources are made from many smaller pollution sources that are not an enormous deal by themselves but when considered as a gaggle are often . Natural sources can sometimes be significant but don't usually create ongoing pollution problems just like the other source types can.

Pollution On The Move

Pollution from man-made and natural sources often occurs in one place and is transmitted through the air. Sometimes chemical reactions in the environment change pollutants before they accumulate. Air pollutants can create haze, which is difficult to see, and pollutants can have biological effects. NPS areas, like other places, are experiencing these effects. Location and even the time of year can determine which sources of pollution are most important to each park.

Parks downwind of power plants that lack modern pollution controls can have increased smog. Tailpipe emissions from cars and trucks, also as industrial processes like oil and gas development, produce to elevated ozone concentrations. Summertime wildfires also can reduce visibility in NPS areas. There are even samples of pollutants that originated from other countries and were transported thousands of miles arriving at parks.

The effects of this pollution can be seen in the haze and the negative biological effects. Learn more at Globalrangs about the effects of air pollution on nature and visibility, and human health.
